What Should I Wear As I WFH This Autumn?
STYLE & FASHION
Working from home in the spring/summer months meant comfortable elasticated shorts, vest tops, and floaty feminine dresses. But for autumn, it’s a completely different story…
We love everything about autumn – the gorgeous orange hues, pumpkin spiced lattes, and the crisp chill in the air which makes us reach for our oversized knits, chunky scarves, and boots. So many boots! Working from home is definitely going to bring some sartorial challenges this autumn, but we still want to look effortlessly chic while staying warm, cosy and comfortable.
Luckily, it’s pretty easy to achieve this with the right pieces…
Coster Copenhagen Short Sleeve Seawool Jumper
Zoom calls aren’t going away anytime soon, so we like to mix it up every now and again. There are only so many white shirt and black blazer combos that one Zoom call can handle, so stand out from your co-workers by adding a pop of colour –and this Seawool Coster Copenhagen jumper is a great example. The short sleeves are perfect for this time of year, and the gradual change in temperature; plus it’s comfy without being unprofessional. What more could you want?
If you do want to smarten it up, simply wear a white shirt underneath so the collar pokes through. You can even throw on a blazer for maximum professionalism, and take the blazer off – perhaps replace it with your biker jacket? – for when it’s time for that much-needed lunchtime stroll.
Garcia Black Blouse With Giraffe Print
Traditional monochrome, but make it fashion. Black and white is a colour combo staple for a reason, but no one said your monochrome officewear couldn’t come with a daring animal print, did they? We love this Garcia blouse with giraffe print, and think it will instantly jazz up even the dreariest of Monday afternoon Zoom meetings.
The high neck is perfect for the sudden drop in temperature too – and will also help reduce your heating bill, as 9-5 heat that someone else paid for was something we definitely took for granted pre-pandemic. A scarf in a contrasting hue and some bold necklaces would complement it perfectly.
Garcia Black Shirt With All-over Flower Print
Another must-have black blouse which gives any work-from-home or even back-to-the-office look some edge is this Garcia shirt with all-over flower print. Because who said that flowers just had to be for spring/summer?
Tuck it into your chicest pencil skirt and high waisted trousers when it’s time to return back to the office, or some skinny jeans and ankle boots for smart/casual occasions. But for ultimate comfort, which is what work from home attire is all about, we would team with a pair of black trousers with an elasticated waist (and no one would judge for you wearing leggings or joggers as your laptop’s camera will not tell your secrets) or some comfortable paperbag trousers.
Garcia Paper Bag Trousers
And speaking of paper bag trousers, they don’t come much dreamier than these Garcia beauties. They currently come in two colours – failsafe, goes-with-everything-black, and look-at-me I’m-not-letting-go-of-summer yellow – although we would snap them up in every shade they came in, should more become available. We couldn’t possibly write a work from home feature without praising paper bag trousers.
They’re as stylish as they are figure-flattering and forgiving, which is exactly what we need after months of quarantining. They’re also perfect for anyone who’s put on a bit of weight over lockdown – and isn’t that everyone? – and are so versatile, as they can be dressed up or down and worn with everything from crisp shirts to cropped jumpers to chunky knits, and more.
If you only buy one pair of trousers this month, these Garcia must-haves won’t let you down!
GARCIA DRESS IN ANIMAL PRINT
If you’re looking for the perfect smart/casual yet oh-so-comfy piece to get you through working from home over these next few months, then we think this beautiful leopard print Garcia dress might be it. Perfect for those of us who don’t want to be working in pyjamas and athleisure pieces all day – plus, it makes answering the door to the postman and popping out for a socially distanced coffee with a neighbour a lot more convenient, as you won’t have to run upstairs for a frantic, last-minute outfit change.
Team it with casual, autumn-ready ankle boots and an oversized faux fur coat for everyday style, or glam it up by adding heels and some sparkles. Add to cart!
Garcia Brown Leopard Print Scarf
And finally, no autumnal sartorial edit would be complete without a scarf. Whether you wear one just to add a pop of colour to an outfit during a last-minute Zoom call, or wear one to wrap up and keep out the chill with, thisGarcia scarf ticks all the boxes. And it’s leopard print, with a subtle hint of red, so you can’t go wrong!
Ps: it’s also on sale, so snap it up now before it’s gone forever!
