What To Wear On Your Staycation This Summer

style & fashion

Our lives are slowly getting back to normal, but we aren’t out of the woods just yet. This means that while we can catch up with a few close friends in our favourite restaurants (with a booking and socially distanced seating, of course) our dreams of leaving the country and heading to sunnier climes are still very much a fantasy.

But there’s still fun to be had in this country, so we want to jump on the staycation bandwagon and enjoy the little beauties that Ireland has to offer. From strolls with friends, dinners with family, and perhaps even some adventurous activities with children, there’s definitely a lot of fun to be had. Especially as it means we can look forward to wearing something other than loungewear…

For summer activities with the kids…

Active days out call for casual and comfortable ensembles. The best way to ensure your outfit is both of those things, as well as stylish and season-appropriate, is to go for effortless basics in a variety of summer-ready colours. This Coster Copenhagen yellow V-neck T-shirt is a great example, as it’s a simple everyday piece that you could also dress up with a blazer and accessories such as a scarf or layered necklaces if you needed to. We would size up to get a loose, super-comfortable fit so you can move around with ease. The Coster Copenhagen pink tencel T-shirt is another one of our favourites.

Tuck your T-shirt of choice into a comfortable pair of trousers. We love these dark blue Garcia trousers with all-over print, as they are a hardworking pair of everyday trousers that will see you through a multitude of different scenarios. Not only will their elasticated waistband make them comfortable for an entire day of activities, but their dark and therefore more forgiving colour means they can also disguise an accidental stain or two. The perfect trousers to help you with the transition from work-from-home loungewear…

For a casual park stroll…

Should your casual stroll occur on a hot day, we really recommend these Garcia ochre orange shorts. The en-vogue orange shade is perfect for the summer, and they can be teamed with a host of different colours from black and white, to more daring yellow and navy blue shades too. Ps: these are ones to save for your summer vacation next year, whenever and wherever that may be.

For socially distanced drinks with friends…

This light and airy Garcia short sleeved dress has the perfect colour palette for Ireland’s unpredictable temperatures. It’s not too vibrant and outlandish, which makes it very wearable throughout the season; and if the sun does eventually come out, we can add pops of colour as we see fit. The other thing we love about it is that it’s versatile enough to be worn for smart/casual occasions too, as it can be dressed up very easily with only a handful of added accessories. It’s the perfect addition to our capsule wardrobe, as we know we’ll be wearing it for many spring/summer seasons to come!

Shirt dresses are another must-have for this season, and this Garcia army green dress is a clear favourite. Marrying unmistakable style with comfort, it’s perfect for casual drinks with friends in this country, and also for packing in a future holiday suitcase too.

For a romantic dinner…

Nothing screams summer quite like a pair of crisp white trousers. And being able to wear white trousers inside is something quite special these days. (Boy, how things have changed!) We definitely wouldn’t advise wearing these Access Fashion white trousers on a park outing, or anywhere with outdoor seating, so date night at an indoor restaurant is the perfect opportunity.

For those rare moments of sunshine…

We wish there were more moments of sunshine, if only just to wear more summer maxi dresses! Nothing is as feminine and figure-flattering as a chic summer maxi dress, and this Access Fashion geometric dress ticks all of our boxes. We love the neon tones, and the darker hues are perfect for teaming with a fierce leather jacket to not only toughen the look up, but also for security in case the weather turns at any given moment.

We couldn’t let you go without mentioning one of our biggest highlights from the new Coster Copenhagen collection. This Coster Copenhagen long yellow skirt is what sartorial summer dreams are made of – have you ever seen anything so flirty and feminine and summery? Perfectly acceptable to buy now and wear later, but the moment we see a hint of sunshine beaming through the window, we’re going to pull this out of the wardrobe and wear it – even if it’s just to go to the supermarket! Pair with nude wedges and a sleeveless crisp white shirt, or go for a more casual aesthetic and team with an effortless T-shirt, waist-defining belt, and comfortable sandals.
